If you want to have a successful yearbook, you need to have a cohesive team. Building the team takes time and effort, but the work will be worth it. Never think that taking the time to build the team is a waste.
Some easy ways to get started building the team:
- Food Fridays
- Celebrating Birthdays
- Attending Camp
- In School Field Trips
- Attending workshops
- Staff Weekly & Monthly Awards
- Have a puzzle in your room
- Decorate your room or bulletin boards
- Compliment Board
- Secret Santa
- Oreo Challenge – Great exercise to start off an interview lesson, contact us on how to incorporate
- Marshmallow Challenge Click on link for instructions
- Awards Dinner
- Silly Skittles Game – Pass around a large bag of Skittles and instruct students to take as many or as few as they like, but they have to take at least one, and they can’t eat them. Once everyone has some Skittles, explain that each color represents a prompt they have to share or perform for the class, and they have to do one of the following for every Skittle they took. Red = Share a random fact about yourself. Orange = Tell the class your favorite television show or movie. Yellow = Tell the class your favorite food. Green = Share something you are proud of, or a goal you would like to accomplish. Purple = Make an animal noise.
- Alphabet Game -Give each student a piece of paper with ALL of the letters of the alphabet on it with room to write a word or few words next to each letter. Tell the students to think of a word or words that starts with each letter that is associated with yearbook. Starting at A, go through the alphabet and at the end the student with the most letters filled in can WIN a prize. When you are complete, you will have the ABCs of Yearbook.
